 In Wellbeing

Have you struggled to lose weight?

If so, you’re not alone…

“Willpower is the ability to resist short-term temptations in order to meet long-term goals.”

Lack of willpower, procrastination and self sabotage are often the source of failure.

Why?

Really effective weight loss begins with your mind.

Commonly referred to as “self-discipline,” willpower is what helps us create lasting positive changes in our lives.

Exercising positive actions and self discipline is the skill that often eludes us.

It takes skill to turn what you know into what you can do on a regular basis.

A problem many people face is relying too much on willpower and neglecting the necessary skills required to succeed.

A lot of our clients come to us having tried and tested many weight loss methods.

Some have exercised willpower: ‘I won’t eat after 7pm’

Others, having worked with us, are able to exercise the skill and conscious control necessary to achieve results.

Examples…

Skill: Adopting the right mindset before you eat. Before each meal or snack, look at your food and tell yourself this meal will keep you satisfied. .

Skill: Limiting your taste options in a meal to just a few so you’re less likely to overeat.

Skill: Practicing mindful eating. Eat slowly and chew thoroughly. Put your fork down between bites and pay attention to your body’s signals. Are you satisfied?

Are you using skill power?

Are you aware of why you do the things you do to help you achieve results?
