5 TIPS for a ‘NO EXCUSES’ lifestyle

 In Wellbeing

Most of us want to look and feel better.

When faced with the demands of everyday life, we often slip into the old unhealthy habits that steer us away from that, “Look good, feel good factor”.

Over time, these unhealthy habits become more and more difficult to break.

To make change, we need healthy habits to become automated actions.

Here are 5 tips to help you prevent/break the bad habit cycle and cut the excuses.

Learn to enjoy healthier foods

The key here is to try new things. Add variety to your diet. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are the foundation to a healthy diet because of their nutritional value. Palatability plays a big part in adherence so find what you like and roll with it.

Make a commitment to yourself

You’re making an investment in yourself…in your health, both physical and mental. How important is that to you? If you’re struggling, remind yourself why you started in the first place.

Focus on what you enjoy most

Running, cycling, swimming, yoga…the list goes on. Physical activity should be fun if you’re going to get the most out of it. You’re also more likely to adhere to a program if you enjoy it.

Reward yourself

If you reach your weekly targets, give yourself something special. Buy that swimsuit you wanted for the upcoming holiday and enjoy feeling and looking good in it.

Be realistic

Start slowly and look to gradually increase exercise intensity. Listen to your body! If you have a sweet tooth and have trouble with adherence, why not opt for healthier options? How about some fruit instead of sugary treats?

Cut the excuses and get to know yourself a little.

Everyone has a different journey so do what works to get you to the end goal.
